Today i found lump of fur in her cage.. information technology'due south like a scalp with fur attached to it.. it'south from the mother.. i saw a hole on her body where the lump of fur discrete..

What could exist incorrect with her?

There isn't whatsoever bleeding or fighting in her cage coz she is all alone with her babies..

I went to the nearest pet shop at my area and the lady at the pet shop told me it might exist due to insufficient bedding so she get-go plucking fur off herself to brand bedding!~ But the cage is full of bedding and i attempt to modify away the old 1 frequently.. She also mention that it may be due to the babies biting her.. but.. can't exist that serious! It's actually a whole clamper of fur out!

Pls assistance.. I'chiliad freaking out!

I would advise you lot not to change her bedding til at to the lowest degree three weeks. What you could do is give her new bedding and let her do the arrangement.

About her wound. I am confused, is she bleeding or feeling hurt in anyway?

I have heard of mother rabbits pulling out their fur to keep their babies warm but I haven't heard of hamsters doing the same.

I suggest that she comes out to eat, effort to meet if you tin can become her away from babies without feeling threatened. Mayhap an inviting treat? Endeavor to assess the severity of the wound. Is information technology deep? If it is just a surface wound, clean it with a gentle anti-septic lotion.

I am wondering if information technology is ok to take her to see the vet. I worry information technology may stress her out.

Delight permit us know how bad the wound is. Is she eating well?

Nursing mothers volition lose fur especially at the abdomen area simply this will usually regrow once the pups are weaned & removed.

Since at that place is no bleeding on the affected area,I see it equally a positive sign that the hamster is not injured.

I would suggest that you wait for another week after the pups are weaned.Remove the the mom and isolate her in some other cage.Fur loss can be treated with brewer'southward yeast by burdensome the tablet and mixing it with her hamster food. This will simply help in speeding up the fuf growth.Nevertheless widespread fur loss amounting to skin irritation or flakiness should exist referred to a vet.

pinkbells, you tin really touch the pups and change the bedding at fifteen days~~ but the bulletin board system won't be weaned until Mean solar day 21 or so, and i recommend leaving the pups with the mom until Day thirty~~ but helps keep them feeling more secure, and therefore less nippy with u.s.a. humans  .

from where on her body has this chunk of fur come? what we're concerned abt here is the possibility of infection; still nursing moms tin can't be given an antibiotic like baytril, because it will be captivated into her nursing milk, consumed past the babies, and so the babies will get actually ill.

what has her diet been correct earlier the pups? did you make sure to requite her extra protein?

apart from the yeast, other foods that contain vitamins A and D assistance promote fur growth. milk is usually fortified with vitamin D; you could soak a trivial piece of bread in the milk for her. carrots incorporate vitamin A; chop a piece of carrot upwardly for her.

if she's scratching, information technology could mean that fur is growing dorsum in and the skin is healing~~ a good sign.

or, this could indicate that she might have some itchy skin fungus? she might've scratched the fur off herself?

Howdy!

I notice bald patches at places where the nipples are..
i call up it might be due to the babies bitter her besides hard as they really like to cling on to her really tight..

She is eating right earlier and afterward her babies are born..
She is scratching alittle but not besides much so i think she doesn't feel very itchy?

I'm now giving her food that can help her grow the furs back fast..
Will update again on her condition..

The babies are now grown upwardly.. 2 weeks plus now.. Think i will remove them from the mother sometime next week or and then.. They are still clinging to the mother tightly every bit usual..

I actually mixed natural yoghurt with flax seeds, wheatgerm and brewer'due south yeast. I call back they love it coz each hamster grabs the spoon when I feed them. AND they won't let get!

Brewer'due south yeast can be purchased from nature'due south health. It doesn't odor or sense of taste nice to me.

Anyway, where can i get the Brewer's Yeast tablet?

You tin can become information technology from GNC stores.

IMO,the mommy hamster should not be bred in the near future and this volition let her recuperate her wound which could exist the cause from the suckling from the pups.

yoghurt are the same as those nosotros eat??
tin can they eat cheese?

Amend to buy those that are less sugar.I practice non feed them yogurt cause information technology really make the cage messy & may also attract ants. However if y'all desire to,removed it once your hamster accept cease with information technology.

Once the mom is isolated, changed her bedding to that of unscented tissue paper for a week.Feeding her with tofu and scrambled egg in moderation other then her daily hamster mix is favourable.Put in a couple more than sunflower seeds would be appreciated. Most minor wound would usually healed itself.Of course if there is a cause for concern, the vet is however the best person to see.

Blessings
